FOLEY, Ala - The Foley City Council unanimously approved at Monday's council meeting the appointment of Vickey Southern to the city clerk position.

"She has all the qualifications and certifications," Mayor John Koniar said at the work session.

The council discussed the idea of separating the position from the city administrator position at the May 4 council work session and agreed to advertise the position internally.

Koniar said there were discussions of separating the duties into two separate positions around the time Perry Wilbourne retired as city administrator.

Southern previously was the assistant city clerk, and she was sworn into her new position at the council meeting.
