Foley Council approves surveying for first phase of citywide bicycle path project

Posted

FOLEY, Ala. - The Foley City Council unanimously approved a resolution approving Volkert's proposal for surveying the Glenlakes area, Phase I of the bike path extension project.

David Voslow proposed the idea to the council at a previous work session, hoping to connect the cities of Gulf Shores, Orange Beach and Foley with bike paths. Voslow told the council he is willing to pay up to $15,000 for each of the three phases if the council covers the rest of the costs.

The second phase would be a 1-mile bike path on the bypass connecting County Road 20 to County Road 12, and phase three would be a bike path from County Road 12 to Graham Creek Preserve Road, which would be a half-mile long.
