FOLEY, Ala. - The Foley City Council and Mayor John Koniar allowed Butch Stokes, the city's engineer, to advertise bidding for the Cedar Street sidewalk project.
Stokes said the project would involve sidewalks on one side of Cedar Street starting behind Foley High School until Foley Elementary School and Foley Middle School on Laurel Avenue.
Stokes said the city received a $450,000 grant from the Alabama Department of Transportation for the project.
"We're going to pay for 20 percent of the project and the grant will pay for 80 percent," Stokes said. "Hopefully we will finish it this summer."
