Foley council mulls decision on new passenger van for Foley Senior Center

FOLEY, Ala. - The Foley City Council discussed applying for a grant to purchase one 15-passenger van for the Foley Senior Center.

Mayor John Koniar asked at the council work session if the van would be "dangerous to drive," and if a better option was available.

Jessica Nelson, city administrative assistant, said the van in question is appealing because it has a handicap-accessible option. Nelson listed other types of vans ranging from a 13-passenger option with a raised roof and another 15-passenger vehicle.

The council approved applying but decided to wait until the next meeting before making a decision which van it wanted to apply for, and Nelson said she needs to list which option the council wants.

"We need to look at what is the safest," Koniar said.
