In order for a student to be eligible, he/she must be 5 years old on or before September 2. Documentation needed for registration include: a Certified Birth Certificate, a Social Security Card, 2 proofs of residency, and a State of Alabama Certificate of Immunization (IMM-50) or Certificate of Religious Exemption. The student being registered will need to attend the registration so that he/she can be given a “readiness survey”.

Foley Elementary will be having our 15th Annual Auction Friday April 27, 2012. The auction will begin at 6:00p.m.-9:00p.m. in the FES gym. Admission is $10.00 and includes a silent and live auction, raffle entry, and a tailgate-style dinner. Some of the items that are being auctioned include condo packages, artwork, restaurant gift cards, movie passes, golf passes, autographed sports packages, and unique items made by FES students.

In Mrs. Edwards’ first grade class the students are doing all kinds of investigations in math with counting. They are counting by 1’s, 2’s, 3’s, 4’s, 5’s, and 10’s. The students have started working on plants in science and are growing all kinds of different plants.

Mrs. Messick’s class is working hard on the ARMT test this week! Students have been learning different material all year, and it is now time to let their knowledge shine on the tests! After testing they will begin a new science AMSTI kit on sound.

Mrs. Wagner’s ESL students have been preparing for the ARMT by working on many different reading skills such as: comprehension, main idea, inference, vocabulary building, compare and contrast, cause and effect, and many other important skills. They have worked on computer programs that help with these skills and many others. The students have been reading a story called "Abuela's Records". It is about a young boy who visits his grandmother every summer and she plays all of her old records from Puerto Rico. He learns to appreciate and have a love for music just like his grandma. It is a great story about respecting grandparents and elders.
