Foley Elementary School is excited that our library program received a South Baldwin Chamber Foundation Teacher-Student Grant. All of the fourth grade students participated in writing this grant and creating a book list of series chapter books that they would like to have in the library. Sydney Moore’s student grant was the best written grant and was submitted to the South Baldwin Chamber Foundation to provide them with the collected information from the fourth grade students. We are very excited to have these books arrive in the next few weeks! We Love to read at Foley Elementary!
The last day to purchase yearbooks for the 2011-2012 school year will be February 29. The cost per yearbooks is $25.00. Don’t miss your chance to purchase your copy.
Ms. Linda Harris’ First grade English as a Second Language students are “authors in training”. They have been working very hard on their writing skills. The boys and girls are using their English skills to write and illustrate some awesome stories!
In Mrs. Waters’ Third grade class, the students are learning about the Water Cycle in Science. Each child is presenting an Indian report to the classroom. We would like to recognize Latoya Howard as being the top reader in the class so far this year. She has 62 AR points! Way to go Latoya! In addition, the leaders on Rocket Math Multiplication are Trenten Bolder, Avidon Fleming and Latoya Howard. Congratulations for your hard work!
Ms. McConnell’s and Mrs. Gassenmeyer’s math students are learning all about geometry. Besides learning how to define and draw geometric terms, they are applying them to the world around them. They have discovered that our world is full of shapes, lines and angles. Students also continue to work on mastering their multiplication facts. They recently learned all the neat tricks for the nine times table and tried to teach them to their parents!! They also know a great song to help them remember the products of the 4 times table.
