A fire on Johnson Lane in Foley took the life of 37-year-old Kimberly Ann Johnson on Saturday according to officials.
Bon Secour Fire Chief Paul Shoenight said the fire was actually in Foley’s jurisdiction, but because of the severity of the blaze both Foley and Bon Secour Fire departments responded. Magnolia Springs Fire Department was also called to the fire but their services were canceled upon arrival according to Shoenight.
First responders had doused the flames within 10 minutes of arriving. By 8:30 p.m. the fire was out. Johnson’s body was found in the bathroom of the home. Johnson was the only occupant of the house at the time the fire broke out.
The fire is still under investigation by both the Foley Fire Department and the Alabama state fire marshals. The cause of the fire is still unknown, and autopsy results are pending to determine Johnson’s exact cause of death.
