ROBERTSDALE, Alabama — Marla Ebert had two goals to pace the Foley Lady Lions to a 3-1 win over Robertsdale in Class 6A Section 2 play on Tuesday.

Ebert scored on a direct kick at the 38:00 mark in the first half, then added a goal on a corner kick in the second half for Foley (2-3-1, 1-2), who hosts Gulf Shores at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.

"We are starting to come together," Foley head coach Danielle Pfizenmayer said. "They are starting to learn their formations and are starting to play the ball on the ground, playing with their feet and playing much better."

Foley's third goal came when Tiara Rowell's pass intended for Emily Costa in front of Robertsdale keeper Fiona Morrison was deflected into the goal by a Robertsdale defender.

Robertsdale added a goal late in the second half, but Pfizenmayer said she was proud of the way the Lady Lions defended Robertsdale's offensive attacks.

"My defense, that's the strongest part of our team right now," Pfizenmayer said. "They are our core."
