During her basketball career at Foley, Underwood was chosen Pizza Hut Player of the Week multiple times. She was then awarded a scholarship to play basketball at Faulkner State.
Underwood also lettered in track for FHS in her 10th and 11th grade years. The track team won the 1983 & 1984 county championships, both years that she participated. She ran in the mile relay at the 1984 state track meet in Selma.
Underwood was a member of National Honor Society all three years she attended FHS and was president of the organization her senior year.
She graduated seventh in her class of 230 students in 1985 and was voted Most Athletic and received the Scholar/Athlete award for the female athlete with the highest GPA.

Moore then took over as head coach of the Lions for the 1998-2000 seasons, struggling the first two seasons but emerging as a playoff team in 2000. Moore was very proud to coach a lot of outstanding athletes and wonderful people during his seven years with Foley football, including an Alabama-Mississippi All-star game athlete and five Alabama North-South All-star game athletes.
