On April 5, 2012, the Foley Intermediate School Archery Team traveled to Birmingham to compete in the National Archery in the Schools Program State Championship Tournament. The team placed first in the elementary division with a total score of 3191 total points, which is a Foley Intermediate School Archery Team record score. Sixth grader Shelby Anderson was the elementary female State Champion with a score of 284 points. Sixth grader Holden Shires placed third in the elementary male division with a score of 276 points. The remaining top twelve shooters were James Alexander with 275 points, Dalton Anderson with 273 points, Maria Owen with 267 points, Annabelle Laurendine with 265 points, Michael Killian with 265 points, Brandon Metz with 263 points, Reagan Lewanski with 260 points, Dylan Stallworth with 258 points, Sandrae Jimmerson with 255 points, and Chris Armstrong with 250 points. Shelby Anderson won first place in the 3-D tournament for elementary girls. James Alexander won first place in the 3-D tournament for elementary boys. This qualifies the Foley Intermediate School Archery Team to compete in the NASP National Championship Tournament on May 11-12 in Louisville, Kentucky.
