Foley intersection modifications nearly complete

FOLEY, Ala. — With school about to be opening for the 2008-2009 school year, Foley City Engineer Butch Stokes has announced that construction work is nearly complete at the intersection of Pride Drive and Pine Street.

The work is expected to be completed on or about July 25, 2008, Stokes said.

Work performed at the intersection includes establishment of right turn lanes and a turn lane for northbound traffic on Pine Street.

A concrete island has been constructed on the west side of the intersection that better channels the eastbound traffic from Foley High School, Stokes said.

He also said minor milling and paving work has addressed some street deterioration issues.

Re-striping from the intersection and Pride Drive to Ala. Highway 59 has been done and the Pride Drive/Pine Street intersection has been changed from a two-way to four-way stop.
