FOLEY, Ala. — During their regular meeting Tuesday, the Foley Lions Club honored longtime active member John Rininger for his service with the organization.
The occasion was in anticipation of Rininger’s planned move to Ohio to be with his children. The festivities included presenting Rininger with gifts and recognitions, as well as the sharing of memories.
Rininger has served with the Foley Lions in numerous capacities. This past year he was the group’s historian, one-year director and public relations coordinator.
For his service, Rininger was also named a Melvin Jones Fellow. According to information provided by the Lions website, Lions International recognizes outstanding individuals by bestowing on them an award that is named for its founder, Melvin Jones.
“This Fellowship Award is the highest form of recognition and embodies humanitarian ideas consistent with the nature and purpose of Lionism,” the site states. “The recipient of this award becomes a model because of the exemplary service to his club and the community for which it serves.”
