FOLEY – The Foley Lions and Gulf Shores Dolphins are set to meet for the first time on the football field Friday night at Ivan Jones Stadium in Foley.

The teams will square off in a preseason practice game at 7 p.m. on the Lions’ home turf.

During an early August interview, Foley head coach Todd Watson said he was excited about playing Gulf Shores for the first time.

“I know coach (Mark) Freeman, great guy, he’s doing a great job down there at Gulf Shores,” Watson said. “We talked about getting together and playing in a jamboree up here. Location wise it is easy for both of us because we are right here. We hope it spurs on a big crowd and spurs some excitement. We play in every other sport other than football. This is something that we are going to try to do hopefully for years to come.”
