FOLEY, Alabama - Cedrix Reed rushed for 222 yards and four touchdowns as the Foley Lions beat the Dothan Tigers 34-29 and secured a playoff spot in Class 6A Region 2 play on Friday.

Reed's 65-yard touchdown run with 2:50 to play in the game put the Lions up 34-29 and the Lions turned the Tigers over on downs on the subsequent series to seal the win and a trip to the playoffs. Reed carried the ball 24 times, caught a pass, played in the defensive back field and had a 58-yard kickoff return.

"He played his heart out, I don't know what else to say," Foley head coach Todd Watson said of Reed. "He has been injured all year, now he's getting back close to healthy. He really helps us out when he is healthy."

The Lions took a 19-0 lead into the half on Reed touchdown runs of 7, 59 and 3 yards. The Lions scored twice off back-to-back turnovers after a B.T. Sanders interception and a Dantrell Clark fumble recovery.

Foley got the first touchdown of the second half when Isaiah Lewis carried for a 7-yard score. Dothan would score the next 21 points on a 40-yard touchdown pass from Diante Thomas to Connor Eggleton, a 3-yard run from Isiah Long and a 6-yard run from Adrian Kirkland. The Tigers took the lead at 3:01 mark in the fourth quarter on a 40-yard strike from Thomas to Kirkland.

"There was a lot of pressure on both sides. Dothan is a great football team, our whole region is filled with a bunch of good football teams," Watson said. "This game went back and forth, both teams played very hard. We were fortunate enough to make a big play at the end."

The Lions secured a playoff berth and could be as high as a two-seed, depending on how other 6A Region 2 games ended.

"I just know that we are in, and once you get in good things can happen," Watson said.

Foley (6-3, 5-2) will close out the regular season at home against Theodore next Friday.
