FOLEY, Ala. — A Foley man is dead after a Thursday morning one-vehicle crash.

According to Alabama Department of Public Safety Trooper Greg Eubanks, 19-year-old George S. Aber was killed Thursday when at approximately 10:10 a.m. on Doc McDuffie, a mile east of Foley, the 1999 Chevrolet Monte Carlo he drove left the roadway.

“It struck an embankment and a fence and overturned,” Eubanks said in a phone interview. “I think he overreacted and lost control of the vehicle.”

He explained that Aber had not been wearing a seatbelt and was partially ejected from the vehicle and was pronounced dead on the scene.

Although the incident was still under investigation at press time, Eubanks speculated on what could have contributed to the accident.

“Speed’s probably going to be a factor,” he said.

According to a representative of Foley High School, Aber had been working on his GED after dropping out of school in 2010.

“He would have graduated this year, but he left us,” she said.
