FOLEY, Ala. — A Baldwin County grand jury has returned a sodomy indictment in connection with a 54-year-old Foley man.

Michael Glenn Stewart of Magnolia Highway ( Baldwin County Road 49) was arrested by Foley police on March 15, 2009, and charged with second-degree sodomy for allegedly engaging in deviate sexual intercourse with a 15-year-old male.

Stewart was released from the Baldwin County Corrections Center on March 16, 2009, after posting a $25,000 bond. The grand jury’s single count indictment came down last month.

Second-degree sodomy is a Class B felony punishable by not more than 20 years in prison or less than two years.

In an unrelated matter, a single count indictment for first-degree assault was handed down by the grand jury last month against Antwon Lavale Jones of East Azalea Avenue. Jones, 19, was arrested on June 30, 2009, for allegedly hitting an Elberta man over the head with a pool cue and attacking the victim with a sharp object.

The victim sustained cuts and lacerations to his head, chest and face, according to the Foley Police Department warrant issued in connection with the June 28, 2009, incident.

Jones was released from the Baldwin County Corrections Center on June 30, 2009, after posting a $10,000 bond in connection with the assault charge.

First-degree assault is a Class B felony.
