On Friday, February 17th, students that have read 15 of their 25 books were taken to the bowling alley for a little time to relax and have fun. If you did not meet the requirement this time, make sure to work extra hard so that you will be able to attend the next reward trip!
Don’t forget that students will be out of school on Monday, February 20th and Tuesday, February 21st for the Mardi Gras Holiday.
Foley Middle School invites everyone to attend our Black History Month Celebration “Hometown Heroes” on Tuesday, February 28, 2012 in the Foley Middle School Cafetorium. At 5:00 we will begin serving a complimentary dinner of chicken, greens, green beans, dressing, potato salad, rolls, tea and a dessert. Please contact Ms. Kratzer at tkratzer@bcbe.org or the school (943-1255) to make reservations for the number attending. There is no charge; however, we do appreciate donations. There will be a brief P.T.O. meeting at 6:00, immediately followed by the Foley Middle School students’ very special presentation recognizing persons important to the Black History of Foley, Alabama. Please join us as we honor these ladies and gentlemen for their contributions to our community.
In correlation with our Black History Month activities, students at Foley Middle participated in a school-wide Black History research project. The students researched individuals that were important to black history and compiled the information onto a poster. They also compared their individual with someone that they know personally that exhibited some of the same characteristics of their researched individual. The posters will be judged and a winner will be chosen from the 7th and 8th grade. Each winner will receive a $25.00 prize. All posters will be displayed around the campus as we celebrate Black History Month.
