FOLEY, Ala. - Foley Police report that Lebain Quinnard Preston, 40, of Foley, was arrested Monday for allegedly robbing a Tom Thumb store on Alabama 59.

According to a police report, officers responded to a panic alarm at the store at approximately 12:50 a.m., where the cashier told them that a man came into the store, grabbed a half a case of beer and then demanded money from her. The cashier told police that when she saw a gun in the man's pocket, she gave him the money.

The man then left the store parking lot in a black 2007 Honda Accord. The vehicle was later found in the Glendale Apartments parking lot off of South Juniper Street. Police report that evidence connected to the incident was found inside the vehicle.

"He also left his wallet in the car with his identification in it," Lt. David White said.

White said Preston did not own the vehicle and when police spoke to the owner, they received more information about the suspect.

"We believe he parked it there and ran because he just committed the robbery," White said.

The arrest was made about five hours after the robbery at the Club Villa Apartments off North Alston Street, White said.
