FOLEY, Ala. – Kalif Koen scored three rushing touchdowns and Foley intercepted Williamson three times in a 41-12 Class 6A Region 2 win on Friday.
Koen scored from 6, 46 and 13 yards to lead the Lions (6-2, 4-2).
"He ran the ball well tonight," Foley coach Todd Watson said. "I thought he did a good job getting behind his pads and really attacking the line of scrimmage and attacking the holes. The offensive line did a better job for us tonight in creating some holes for him. Williamson is tough inside up the middle and they had our number a couple times. We were able to slip through and get to the secondary and that was the difference."
Defensively, Shaun Fields returned an interception for a touchdown, while Cedrix Reed and Caleb Autrey also grabbed interceptions for Foley.
"We were able to get some turnovers and get on a short field," Watson said. "That helped us put in some quick scores and get Williamson out of their game plan a little bit. The key to any game is turnovers, and we were able to get a few there to start the second half and convert those into points. That was big."
Foley took a 17-6 lead into halftime on Koen's 6-yard TD, a 6-yard touchdown run from senior quarterback Darius Powell and a 17-yard field goal by Jose Zepeda.
Koen's second touchdown came on Foley's second possession in the third quarter. His third score came after Reed's interception at the Williamson 15. Fields' pick-six gave Foley a 38-6 lead, and Zepeda added a 36-yard field goal in the fourth quarter.
Foley will play at Satsuma on Friday, while Williamson (2-6, 2-4) will host Fairhope.
