FOLEY, Ala. — The Foley City Council is set to have a second reading for a new animal ordinance to go along with the vicious animal ordinance passed earlier this year.
Foley Police Chief David Wilson presented the new ordinance was presented to the council on Dec. 6.
The new ordinance, if passed through the council would require all pet owners to clean up after their pets in public parks.
While the ordinance regulating vicious dogs was going through the council earlier this year residents approached the council asking them to do something about pet waste. According to the council, the ordinance currently on the table is the response to those resident’s requests.
The ordinance, according to Wilson, is similar to ordinances other municipalities have in place.
The ordinance, according to Wilson, is simple, but necessary. “If your dog drops it, pick it up,” said Wilson.
