On Sunday afternoon at 3:00, December 18th, the Foley United Methodist Church, will be hosting the Celtic music group, Mithril. The public is invited to attend this delightfully entertaining event for a donation of only $10. You may come by the office of the church for tickets, or show up on the afternoon of the event to purchase your tickets at the door. The church is located at 915 North Pine Street.

Mithril is fast becoming one of the most sought after Celtic/World music groups on the concert series scene. The band’s unique progressive style has its roots in traditional Celtic music but moves far beyond that, weaving such diverse influences as American folk, classical, and Middle Eastern melodies into their full tapestry of sound.

The four musicians, Andra Bohnet, Tom Morley, Ben Harper, and David Hughes, perform their instrumental shows using a wide array of traditional instruments. They include: the Irish flute; whistle; fife; Celtic harp; fiddle; bouzouki; mandolin; guitar; bodhran (Irish frame drum); and harmonium. All these are played with the precision of their classical training and the enthusiasm that springs from their love of the music.

Mithril has been featured in arts and concert series and festivals throughout the Southeast and beyond. As guest artists with the Mobile Symphony, Mithril set an all-time attendance record for a symphony pops series. They have been guest artists with symphonies in Michigan, Mississippi, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Oklahoma, California and Pennsylvania.
