Saturday, November 19th at the Foley United Methodist Church, the focus will be on family health. From 8 a.m. until noon, the public is invited to come and spend time with the family learning about their health.

South Baldwin Medical Center will be doing lipid screenings, blood pressure and blood oxygen measures, flu shots, and bone density tests using the expertise of many physicians associated with the hospital. Dr.Terry Kurtts, Dr. Whitmer, and Dr. Chunge will be present.

Representatives from Mid South Home Health, Newman’s Home Medical, Stacy’s Drug Store, Community Hospice, and Baldwin Optical will be available. Dr. Yolanda Jones will provide information and assistance concerning pre-natal care and new mother’s nutrition. Nutrition will be a focus of the whole fair with healthy snacks being provided for all participants.

The YMCA will have information on "Healthy Kids", and the Foley Police Department will be on hand to provide Child Print ID’s. Representatives will be available with information about the Jennifer Clair Moore Foundation on the Peer Helpers programs in our schools, along with the Boy Scouts who will be providing up-to-date materials on "Just Say No to Drugs."

Focusing on the whole body, will be demonstrations on Yoga by Candice from Back on Track, and Zumba by Sandy.

Life South will be on hand conducting a blood drive to give participants the opportunity to give back to the community the life-saving gift of blood. Everyone having blood tests is reminded to fast prior to attending.

Foley UMC is located at 915 N. Pine Street, and the health fair will take place in the Spirit Center of the church. Many other vendors will be on hand for what could be the most important day of the year for protecting the health of yourself and that of your children. Special thanks goes to the Foley Rotary Club and the South Baldwin Chamber Foundation for donations to assist in offsetting the cost of the fair.

Everyone is welcome, for more information call 943-4393.
