FOLEY, Alabama — Winter guests are invited to visit Foley on Tuesday, Jan. 10, for a day of events sponsored jointly by the City of Foley and the South Baldwin Chamber of Commerce. The welcome event, called "A Walk through Foley," will include a morning reception at the Foley Civic Center, and an afternoon to visit designated local businesses to become eligible to win a Kindle.
The day begins with a reception at the Foley Civic Center, located at 407 E. Laurel Ave, from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. During the reception, visitors will enjoy coffee and donuts and receive information about things to see and do in Foley. Grab bags that include discount coupons from Foley businesses and businesses who are members of the South Baldwin Chamber of Commerce will be distributed.
“We know that winter guests enjoy Foley. This reception will be a special ‘welcome’, with an invitation to spend time dining, shopping and exploring Foley,” according to LaDonna Hinesley, marketing director for the City of Foley.
“This is a great opportunity for our business community to market directly to snowbirds. Providing samples or coupons for the grab bags encourages snowbirds to visit your business. We hope local businesses will take advantage of the event to offer incentives for this group since they have a special invitation to visit Foley on Jan. 10,” said Donna Watts, CEO of the South Baldwin Chamber of Commerce.
During the afternoon attendees will be encouraged to play Foley blackout bingo, where participants visit designated businesses and get their “Bingo” card stamped, to become eligible for a drawing to win a Kindle.
Businesses who are interested in including a coupon or item in the grab bag, may contact either Linda Hula at the Visitor Information Center – downtown, at 943-1300, or Kristin Roberson at the South Baldwin Chamber of Commerce, at 943-3291.
