BAY MINETTE — A Foley woman died last week while in custody of the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Correction Center in Bay Minette.
Last Tuesday evening, 46-year-old Lisa Stallworth was found unresponsive in the shower at the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Correction Center. First responders along with emergency medical personnel administered to her, and she was subsequently transported to Mobile Infirmary for further evaluation and treatment.
According to Baldwin County Sheriff’s Deputy Eric Winberg, Stallworth was ultimately pronounced deceased at the hospital. As a result, a formal death investigation was initiated.
In addition, Alabama Department of Forensic Science conducted an autopsy and the preliminary report indicates that Stallworth died of natural causes.
Winberg said the investigation is open and ongoing.
While Stallworth’s charges were not available at press time, she has a lengthy criminal record with the BCSCC that dates back to 1990 with an assault-in-the-first-degree charge. Additional charges she acquired over the years included theft of property in the second degree, domestic violence in the second degree, seven charges of distribution of a controlled substance, various counts possession of drug paraphernalia or a controlled substance, possession of marijuana in the second degree and two counts of the sale of cocaine.
In addition, Stallworth’s arrest record indicated eight counts of violation probation. Two of those had been as recent as February, both resulting in Stallworth’s release.
