Jennifer Bower of Foley, a server at Tacky Jack’s in Orange Beach, had the customer of a lifetime Monday afternoon.
So, just what did President Barack Obama have to say during his surprise visit to the waterfront restaurant?
“I don’t really remember because I was so excited,” Jennifer said between attending to even more customers about an hour after the president left.
“He said ‘you work here.’ ”
One thing Jennifer didn’t forget was how to do her job. She remembered every detail of the order.
“He had the grilled Caesar salad, the nachos, the royal reds and sweet tea,” she said.
How about the tip?
“Thirty on 90.”
The president then visited the gift shop where he refused the gift of three Tacky Jack’s T-shirts.
“The gift shop wanted to give him the T-shirts, but he said no,” Jennifer said. “He said ‘no, I want to pay for them to help the economy down here.’ ”
All in a day’s work as Jennifer rushed off to serve another table of hungry diners.
