FAIRHOPE, Ala. — Beat the heat this summer and send your kids to a Turn the Page Literary Camp at Page &Palette Bookstore.

Offered by the Page & Palette Foundation, literary camp provides a unique opportunity for young readers to enhance reading skills, gain confidence in reading aloud, and uncover the wonderful world of books.

Camp sessions will be held for school-age students from 9 a.m. until noon during the following weeks:

•July 6-10, for second and third grades, led by Tricia Hudson M.Ed. NBCT, the gifted education teacher at J. Larry Newton School.

•July 13-17, for grades six, seven and eight, led by Linda Busby Parker, an award-winning author who teaches fiction writing at the University of South Alabama and at Middle Tennessee State.

This session will also include creative writing for these middle school-aged students.

July 20–24, for grades four and five, led by Valerie Stickney, the librarian at Daphne East Elementary School.

July 27-31, for kindergarten and first grade, led by Jenifer Carpenter, a teacher at Orange Beach Elementary School.

Each session will be held at Page & Palette, 32 S. Section St. in Fairhope. Some sessions will include walking field trips in the downtown business area.

The cost is $100 per child, with each additional sibling at $80.

Classes are limited to 10 children per session.

Participants will receive an age-appropriate book, daily snacks and a camp T-shirt.

Registration forms and camp fees are due on June 25th. Please include the preferred T-shirt size along with your payment.

Checks may be made payable to the Page & Palette Foundation.

If registration is received after that date (if camp is not full), campers may choose T-shirts from available sizes.

Proceeds from the literary camp will go toward programs which the foundation supports, including assistance to local schools, most recently through donations to private and public school libraries.
