Benny Hiram France, 77, a native of Bromley and a resident of Bay Minette, died Saturday, Dec. 20 at a local hospital.
He was married for 40 years to his wife Frances. He was employed by International Paper Company for 39 years as a crane operator. He served in U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and a good friend to all.
He was preceded in death by his parents Mabel and Hiram France, two brothers, Edward, and George France, and a sister, Daisy Beckham.
Survivors include his wife, Frances M. France of Bay Minette; son, John K. (Anita) Mayo of Lexington, Va.; four sisters, Alice Rieben of Bay Minette, Evie Mohler of Fairhope, Patsy Mayo of Riverview, Fla., and Doris Mabel Gipson, of Mobile; grandson, Johnathan Hiram Mayo, granddaughter Hillary Mikeles, caregivers, Fannie Horch, Janice Watson and Georgia Barnes; other relatives and friends.
Funeral services and visitation were held Tuesday, Dec. 23 from the chapel of Wolfe-Bayview Funeral Home. Burial followed at Bay Minette City Cemetery.
Arrangements were made by Wolfe-Bayview Funeral Homes & Crematory Inc., Daphne.
