Frances Bryars of Stockton died March 8, 2012. Frances was born Nov. 25, 1936, in Josephine to Wilburn and Cordelle Brown and lived in Mobile and surrounding communities until her marriage at age 16 to the love of her life, James Arthur Bryars, III. Frances lived and worked alongside her husband at Hubbard Landing on Tensaw Lake in Stockton for the 58 years of their marriage until he preceded her in death in 2011. Frances was a member of Grace Community Church in Mobile since 2002, operated Lakeside Restaurant at Hubbard Landing for many years and served as a substitute teacher in Bay Minette. Her most treasured role was as wife of Jimmy, mother of her two sons, Jim and Michael, and grandmother of her seven grandchildren, all of whom she served sacrificially and tirelessly. Frances was known for her amazing skill and expertise in cooking and in creating a beautiful and warm home environment. Mrs. Bryars was survived by her sons, James A. “Jim” (Becky) Bryars IV, Mobile, and Michael Renn Bryars, Stockton; seven grandchildren, James Bryars, Catherine Bryars, Jennifer Bryars and Caroline Bryars all of Mobile, AL and Renn Bryars, Erin Bryars and Ali Bryars all of Stockton; one brother, Cordell “Brownie” (Dorothy) Brown, Robertsdale. The family will receive visitors Sunday, March 11, 2012, from 4p.m. to 6 p.m. at Norris Funeral Home in Bay Minette. Funeral services will be Monday, at 3 p.m. at Stockton Methodist Church with the Rev. Jim Bryars officiating. Burial will follow at Bryars Cemetery in Stockton.
