Frank K. “Ken” Gravette, age 87, a native of Ashland, Ala., a former resident of Saraland, Ala. and a resident of Silverhill, Ala. since 1961, passed away Saturday, Jan. 16, 2015 at his home surrounded by his family.
Mr. Gravette was retired from Coast Corp. as a sheet metal foreman, and is currently a member of the Sheet Metal Worker’s Union Local 441, Mobile, Ala.
He is also a member of the Robertsdale United Methodist Church, a lifetime member of Girl Scouts of America and a member of the Great Smokey Mountain National Park Assoc.
He was a charter member of the Saraland United Methodist Church, charter member of the Saraland Lions Club and co-founded a Boy Scout troop in Saraland that is still active today.
After retiring, he enjoyed being a gentlemen farmer and cattleman and traveling. But most of all, he cherished spending time with his family, which he dearly loved.
Mr. Gravette was preceded in death by his wife, Lollie Gravette; and granddaughter, Heather McNellage.
He is survived by three daughters, Lee (Jimmy) Racine of Rosinton, Ala., Joy Thomley and Michelle Kingston, both of Silverhill, Ala.; sister, Geneva Koenig of Robertsdale, Ala.; aunt, Katie Gravette of Ashland, Ala.; nine grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Jan. 19, 2016 at 2 p.m. at Mack Funeral Home chapel, with Rev. Steve Spining officiating, and interment in Baldwin Memorial Cemetery, Robertsdale, Ala.
A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service, from 1 until 2 p.m. at Mack Funeral Home.
