Franklin Hagert Knapp, age 78, born in Cleveland, Ohio and a resident of Stapleton, died Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2013 at his residence.

He was a retired self-employed progressive die designer. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was also a member of the Solar Masonic Lodge #914, a 32° Scottish Rite Mason, a member of the Cahaba Shriners, American Legion Post #1983 and Fraternal Order of Eagles all in Huntsville, Ala. He is survived by his wife, Martha J. (Brown) Knapp of Stapleton; his children, Lisa Knapp Jackson of Huntsville, Raymond “Ray” Knapp of Huntsville, Elva J. (David) Simpson of Stapleton, Rhonda McNair (Greg) Breland of Ocean Springs, Miss. and Michael L. McNair of Milton, Fla; seven grandchildren, Ruby Ann Knapp, Sara Knapp, Seth Knapp, Melissa (James) Bass, Brandon (Mindy) Simpson, Steven McNair and Casey Jo Breland and seven great-grandchildren. The funeral service will be held Friday, Jan. 11, 2013 at 11:30 a.m. at the Stapleton Baptist Church with the Rev. Alan Lawhorn officiating. Burial will follow at Liberty Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday, Jan. 11, 2013 from 9:30 a.m. until the 11:30 a.m. service at Stapleton Baptist Church. Masonic services will be rendered at the graveside by Bay Minette Masonic Lodge #498. Funeral arrangements are by Norris Funeral Home, Bay Minette.
