Maxine Jowers Frederick, born Oct. 19, 1920 in Clarke County, and a longtime resident of Fairhope, died Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2008, under the tender care of the wonderful staff of Beverly Living Center.

She was a graduate of Organic School , belonged to St. James Episcopal Church, Daughters of the American Revolution, Colonial Dames of the 17th Century, the James Town Society, and the First Families of Alabama. She was a portrait sculptor and studied art at the University of Alabama, Honalulu Academy of Art, Palm Beach Art Museum, and the Eastern Shore Art Association. She was the author of three published books of interest to geneologists.

Survivors include her kindergarten sweetheart and husband of 65 years, Col. Paul A. Frederick III of Fairhope; daughter, Jan F. Reddy of Fairhope; one granddaughter, Samantha R. Lankford of Charlotte, N.C., and two great-granddaughters, Arielle Nicole and Kiersten Renee.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 25 at Wolfe-Bayview Funeral Home, Fairhope.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday Jan. 26 at Memory Gardens of Fairhope with Father Mark Wilson officiating .

The family requests memorial donations be made to Nature Conservancy or charity of your choice.
