DAPHNE — Musical performers will entertain audiences during a free concert series at May Day Park every Thursday, from tomorrow (Sept. 6) through Nov. 1.

“People like to picnic and watch events. We just want to give people something to do at lunch that’s a little different,” Thomas “Catt” Sirten, of Catt’s Sunday Jazz Brunch on Radio Avalon, said. Radio Avalon is a broadcast of WHIL 91.3 FM.

Professionals can grab a lunch — hence the series’ title, “Brown Bag by the Bay” — and enjoy the show, Cindy McCrory, promoter, said.

Music will range from jazz, pop, rhythm and blues and blues, according to Sirten.

Brown Bag by the Bay will be held every Thursday from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Scheduled entertainment is as follows:

•Sept. 6: Jim Andrews

and Lisa Zanghy

•Sept. 13: Hank Becker

•Sept. 20: Jon Anthony

and Sharon Moore

•Sept. 27: Jim Armstrong

•Oct. 4: Gregory Brown

•Oct. 11: Roman Street

•Oct. 18: Rick Chancey

•Oct. 25: (Rain Date)

•Nov. 1: Joe Occhipinti

While Brown Bag by the Bay is a new event, a similar occasion is held each fall and spring in Bienville Square in Mobile, according to Sirten.
