An open letter to the person who “keyed” my car outside Page and Palette bookstore Friday:

I am sorry you do not believe in the right of free speech in this country.

Yes, my car had a window sticker that was negative toward President Barack Obama. Yes, the sticker read “Obama, the complete and utter ignoramus,” but that is my opinion. I have the right to express it. You have the right to express yours. But you do not have the right to drag your key down the side of my car across both doors and the front fender. That is being a sneak and a coward. You should be ashamed of yourself.

I am sure President Obama would agree with me that I have a right to criticize him. But he would take issue with you that you have the right to punish me for those opinions.

The next time you see me in town, walk over and let’s discuss the issues like two adults that still live in a free country.
