FOLEY, Alabama - All of Baldwin County's high school football games were still scheduled to be played on Friday night at 7 p.m., as of Wednesday afternoon after Hurricane Isaac made landfall in Louisiana and brought torrential rain and high winds to Baldwin County.
Baldwin County Athletic Director Don Blanchard confirmed that the county's athletic teams were given permission to meet and practice on a voluntary basis on Wednesday after 3 p.m. Any players who could not make those practices would be excused.
Blanchard said there is still a possibility that Friday's games could be moved or postponed, and Gulf Coast Newspapers will update that information as soon as it becomes available. Gulf Shores High School Principal Dr. Ernie Rosado confirmed that Gulf Shores was hosting Satsuma at 7 p.m. Friday as scheduled.
Mobile and Baldwin county public schools were closed through Wednesday because of the storm, and area athletic teams were barred from practice until this afternoon.
