The “Friday Night Lights” will be much brighter at J.D. Sellars Football Stadium in Robertsdale this season thanks to four brand new sets of 1,500 watt halogen bulbs. Each concrete pole contains 12 lights and was erected over a two week period this summer by the City of Robertsdale Public Works Department. The cost of the project was $65, 834.51, $59,615.93 of which was paid for out of the capital fund for Capital Improvements by the Baldwin County Board of Education. The city of Robertsdale then paid the remaining cost. The previous lights were damaged beyond repair and had be in place since the early 1980s. RHS Football Coach Scott Phelps said he is very appreciative of the City’s and the school’s efforts at making these improvements and thanks the community for its support of the football team.
