Christmas madness is over and a new year stretches out before us. The cover reflects not only New Year's Eve fireworks, but the looking out and looking forward to 2012. While we rest on the shore, an unpredictable ocean laps at our heels and we ponder the events, decisions and introductions of the coming year. While relationships, careers, homes and circumstances may change, the new year beckons gratefulness for the past year's blessings and restored faith in change, will power and sound minds.
First, the beach photo and poem by Rick Williams seems to revel in uncertainties while the photo reminds us of the beautiful nature of a most common image of change—the ocean meeting the shore. While we live in or visit Pleasure Island, we see the example, and perhaps remember and reflect a moment longer than the rest of the world.
