BAY MINETTE, Ala. — For the first time in Coach Jim Sims' career, the Faulkner State Community College’s College Bowl team won the state championships, which took place recently at Montevallo.

There were seven matches between the teams, and Faulkner's team took the championships with a 7-0 record.

"I have been waiting 12 years for these kids to come along," said Sims after the competition was over. It will be the last official competition with FSCC for captain Lauren Phillips and members Kimberly McGraw, Ciarra McNally, and Walter Davis.

They will all be moving on to four year universities, and will be sorely missed. As for the rest of us, we look forward to another year of play, and can only aspire to be as good as this year's team.
