FOLEY, Alabama — Ft. Blakeley SCV Camp #1864 held its 12th Annual Lee-Jackson Salute on Jan. 7 in Foley at the Gift Horse Restaurant. Forty seven individuals attended the event that honors General Robert E. Lee and Lieutenant General Thomas Jonathan “Stonewall” Jackson and their own Confederate veteran ancestors.

A candle lighting ceremony was held where everyone in attendance stated the name, rank, and C.S.A. unit of their own ancestor. An honor bell was chimed in honor of each ancestor as his name was announced. Gary Carlyle, second Lieutenant Commander of the Alabama Sons of Confederate Veterans Division was the featured speaker for the affair. His presentation included music and magic along with an inspirational narrative. Confederate reenactors posted and retired the colors for the event and assisted in lighting of the candles.
