Fugitive murder suspect arrested in Gulf Shores

Gulf Shores, AL – A joint law enforcement investigation has resulted in the arrest of a man involved in the January 2015 murder of a Tarrant, Alabama woman.

Matthew Weston Carden, 35, of Ashville, Alabama was arrested after officers responded to investigate a suspicious person call at the Gulf State Park campground around 3 p.m. on Thursday, June 16.

Carden originally gave a false name in an attempt to conceal his identity but he was identified a short time later during a preliminary interview. Carden is being held on the Jefferson County murder warrant and one count of Obstructing justice using a false identity. 

Arrested along with Carden were Shane Andrew Dulaney, 26, and Tina Theresa Strange, 33, both of Coden, Alabama. Dulaney and Strange were charged with one count each of Unlawful manufacture of controlled substance in the first degree, trafficking in methamphetamine. These arrests were the result of an active meth lab being located during the investigation and arrests. 

This case was investigated by the Gulf Shores Police Department, the Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR-State Parks) and the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office (Drug Task Force).
