GULF SHORES, AL - Here are the two messages sent out to parents via email and social media by Principal Ernie Rosado on Friday.:
First message sent by principal: This is Dr. Ernie Rosado, Principal, GulfShoresHigh School. I want to put to rest – and I ask that you help me put to rest – rumors and social media posts regarding our campus. Everything is running smoothly at our campus and has been. Earlier in the week we did discipline some students for fighting and it appears that set off a lot of talk and rumors that have been very distracting and disrupting both in school and in the community. We will not tolerate idle talk and will discipline students accordingly. Students who fight and create disruption will also be arrested by police. Every day we are blessed to have the presence of school resources officers to keep our campus safe and secure. As we stress constantly, it takes all of us to ensure a safe school and community. If you ever have information you feel that is important to the safety to our school, please let me know or Gulf Shores Police. If you ever have any questions about the safety and security of our school, I ask that you call me and not rely on or propagate the rumor mill. We’re having a great day at GulfShoresHigh School. Thank you for letting me share with you this morning
Second message sent by principal: This is Ernie Rosado, principal, GulfShoresHigh School. Please let me address one thing that is part of the rumor mill. There is no “hit list” at GulfShoresHigh School. Furthermore, I mentioned in my prior message, disruption of learning will not be tolerated by the school or by the police. As proof of that, three students were arrested Wednesday for fighting; a student was arrested today for his misbehavior while talking with a police officer. A dozen students have been suspended and will likely face criminal charges by police for planning a disruption this week. I remind you, these are just a handful of our 794 students. We will not let the misbehavior of a few tarnish the outstanding achievement of the students and teachers at GulfShoresHigh School. We have hosted visitors from across the nation recently who are awed by the learning that is taking place at GulfShoresHigh School. We need your help in reinforcing academic excellence and respectable behavior as we continue to strive to be the very best that we can possibly be. Have a great weekend!
