LOXLEY, Ala. — The Loxley Art Council will present nationally acclaimed “Monroe Crossing,” a bluegrass and gospel quintet along with the “Down Home Band” Friday, Feb. 6 a the Loxley Civic Center, 4198 Municipal Park Drive in Loxley.

The show is to benefit the Loxley Art Council which offers grants-in-aid to students studying art, music and dance.

Tickets for the event are $12 in advance and $15 at the door. According to Helen BeVier, president of the Loxley Art Council, tickets can be ordered by calling her at (251) 895-2787 or by calling the Loxley Civic Center at 964-7733.

“We will be selling hamburgers, hot dogs and soft drinks,” said BeVier.

“Monroe Crossing,” one of the premier bluegrass and gospel quintets, is based in the midwest.

The group got its name because all the members have a love of bluegrass musician Bill Monroe. They take their inspiration from Monroe, The Stanley Brothers, Flatt and Scrugs, Jimmy Martin and other bluegrass greats.

The group has played across the country and the Bahamas.
