Mr. Williams and the Peer Helpers have been selling Candy Grams in the front of the Gym. The money from the Candy Grams will be put into the Peer Helper Fund, the same fund that was used to buy fruit baskets for the people at the nursing home. Students paid 1 dollar to have Candy Grams sent to their friends on Valentines Day. We are all excited about getting our Candy Grams on Valentines Day.
Foley Intermediate School has started a fundraiser at Papa Murphy's. Every Tuesday if we go and buy pizzas there, they will give 15 percent of the profit to our school. Mrs. Wagner said that the parents would love the idea, and Mrs. Mullenix said that she really enjoyed the pizza and she will be eating there more often. So, show some pride in your school and go visit Papa Murphy’s!
The Gifted Education Program (G.E.P.) is starting to enroll for the Alabama Stock Market Game with other kids across Alabama. Last year one team from our school came in tenth place. The winner of the game gets five hundred dollars for the school and a trophy. If you get into the top ten you win a drawstring backpack. The students get a share of one hundred thousand virtual dollars to invest in a number of stocks. When you buy a stock in a company it means you own a little part of the company. If your stocks go down your spot as one can go down to one hundred. The team who has the best value of stocks at the end of the competition wins.
