Gandy carries Tigers in win

BAY MINETTE – Senior running back Charleston Gandy carried the ball 20 times for 327 yards and five touchdowns and added another touchdown on a reception as the Baldwin County High School Tigers defeated the Baker Hornets 55-40 on Friday night.

Gandy scored rushing touchdowns from 27, 42, 32, 56 and 67 yards. He caught an 18-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Jordan Ebert.

Andrew King added 129 yards and a rushing touchdown and Chris Bush also scored on the ground for the Tigers (1-0), who host Foley on Friday.

Spanish Fort rocks J.O. Johnson 30-0

HUNTSVILLE – The Spanish Fort Toros traveled north to Huntsville and blasted J.O. Johnson 30-0 on Thursday.

Quarterback Patrick McGavin had a rushing touchdown and a passing touchdown in the win. He connected with Keller Davis, a transfer from region rival Gulf Shores, for a 35-yard score. Elijah Peters and Otis Smith added rushing touchdowns, and Derrick Hosch kicked a 38-yard field goal in the win.

The Toros held J.O. Johnson to just over 100 yards of offense and forced five turnovers.

Spanish Fort (1-0) hosts 5A, Region 1 rival Gulf Shores (1-0) on Friday.

Bayside falls at Millry 14-8

MILLRY – The Bayside Academy Admirals fell to Millry 14-8 on Friday night.

The Admirals scored first when Thomas Buchanon scored from two yards out and Camp Campbell scored on a two-point conversion.

The Admirals (0-1) host Calhoun on Friday. It is a 3A, Region 1 game.

Robertsdale drops opener to Dolphins

ROBERTSDALE – The Robertsdale Golden Bears lost their season opener to the Gulf Shores Dolphins 30-15 on Friday.

Robertsdale got 102 yards and a touchdown from senior running back Quenton Evans. Evans had to be carried off the field during the fourth quarter due to an apparent leg injury.

Caleb Sumrall connected with Sam Tolbert for a 10-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter.

The Golden Bears (0-1) host 6A, Region 2 foe Satsuma on Friday.

Gulf Shores (1-0) plays at Spanish Fort.
