Helen Charlotte Sander Garwin, born Feb. 26, 1923 in Postville, Iowa to Carl and Celia Sander, died Tuesday, April 1, 2008.
She graduated from Kahler Hospital School of Nursing in Rochester, Minn., as a registered nurse and furthered her education at the University of Minnesota with a BS in public health. She also attended Moody Bible Institute in Chicago.
She was a member of Evangelical Covenant Church in Silverhill. On Feb. 21, 1957 she married Julius Patrick Garwin and to this union was born a son Jonathan David and a daughter Lynette Catherine.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her son, and son-in-law, Robert Patterson.
Survivors include a daughter, Lynette Patterson of Daphne.
Graveside funeral services and burial will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 5 at the Postville Cemetery in Postville, Iowa.
The family requests memorial donations be made to the Silverhill Evangelical Covenant church, P.O. Box 25 Silverhill, AL 36576.
