Gary A. Mullins, 67, born in Coeburn, Va. and a resident of Daphne, died Monday, July 21, 2014.

He was retired from the military after 30 years of service. He was an avid crappie fisherman in the Hubbard’s Landing community.

Gary had many endeavors and accomplishments. He was a restaurant and trucking company owner, gourmet cook, played mandolin and sang in a bluegrass band, restored antiques, custom-built crystal chandeliers, built homes, loved to farm and enjoyed keeping his old tractors running.

He loved Alabama football, golf, basketball and watching his grandson, Sam, play baseball. He was also a great friend and teacher to many.

He is survived by his wife, Sheila Little Mullins of Daphne; his seven children, Tony Bell, Venetta Mullins, Shawn Mullins and Heath Mullins, all from Lexington, Ky., Laurie (Joby) Davis, Wade (Gloria) Stewart and Chad (Allison) Stewart, all from Daphne; his mother, Barbara Ellen Mullins of Norton, Va.; four brothers, Coen (Wilma) Mullins of Narrows, Va., Duane (Sandra) Mullins of Narrows, Va., Leon (Judy) Mullins of Lexington, Ky. and Sherwin and Patsy (Mullins) of Lebanon, Va.; and 14 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father, Wesley Mullins of Clintwood, Va.; his brother, Eugene Mullins of Clintwood, Va.; his sister, Helen Dickson of Abingdon, Va.; and his granddaughter, Isabella Rose Mullins of Lexington, Ky.

A celebration of life service in memory of Gary will be held Saturday, Aug. 2, 2014 at United Methodist Church in Stockton, with the Rev. Jimmy Bryars officiating.

Visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m., and the service will follow at 10:30.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to The Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, KS 66675, an organization that was dear to Gary’s heart.
