Hazel J. Hall Geer, 92, of Fairhope, a former resident of Grand Island, Neb., died Saturday, Dec. 29, 2007 at the Robertsdale Health Center.
She was born Feb. 18, 1915 at Harrisburg, Pa., the daughter of Joseph and Susan (Brady Fratts) Hall. She received her education there and was later employed in the accounting department for Central Pennsylvania Bell Telephone, for six years.
She married Dr. Robert R. Geer in June 1939 at Harrisburg, Pa. The couple resided in Johnstown until her husband entered the service in 1942. They relocated to Grand Island, Neb., in 1946. She assisted her husband at his medical office for 20 years, before retiring in 1980. She moved to Fairhope in 2003. She was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, past member of Altrusa, and volunteered for the American Red Cross Blood Mobile and Stuhr Museum. She was also actively involved with Boy and Girls Scouts for many years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and three brothers: Robert, Dr. John “Jack” and Ned Hall.
Survivors include a son, Robert Reid Geer Jr. of Denver; three daughters, Judith (Tom) Ewing of Scarborough, Maine, Shirley Geer (Andre) DiMatteo of Fairhope and Marilyn “Meg” Kobza of Denver; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 5 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church with the Rev. Randy Fett officiating. A private burial was in Westlawn Memorial Park.
The family requests memorial donations be made to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church or the Stuhr Museum or Unity on the Eastern Shore.
