George David Stewart, 92, a native of Mobile and a longtime resident of Foley, died Wednesday, Aug. 25, 2010.
He was a member of Foley First Baptist Church for 60 years and a deacon for many years.
His hobbies were hunting and fishing. He moved to Baldwin County to pursue his hobbies when he was 20 years old. He became a successful farmer and cattleman. He was a director of Robertsdale Stockyard for many years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, David A. Stewart and Irene McCoy Stewart; two sisters, Margaret Hanks, Dorothy Stewart; and brother, Paul Stewart.
Survivors include his wife of 71 years, Margaret McKenzie Stewart of Foley; daughter, Susan (Gene) Perkins of Montrose; two grandchildren, Stewart McKenzie Perkins and Meg Suzanne Perkins, both of Montrose; sister-in-law, Gladys McKenzie; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends, last but not least, his church family and pastor whom he loved dearly.
Funeral services and visitation were held Friday, Aug. 27 at Foley First Baptist Church. Interment followed at Pine Rest Memorial Park.
