George Kenneth "Ken" Herrin Jr., 71, a native of Mobile, Ala. and a resident of Orange Beach, Ala., died peacefully on April 25 at home surrounded by family and friends.
He was a graduate of McGill Institute and attended the University of Southern Mississippi.
He retired from Gulf Publishing Co. in Foley, Ala. after 17 years where he never failed to make his colleagues laugh and was known for his “one-liners.”
He was preceded in death by his parents, George Kenneth Sr. and Grace Herrin of Mobile, Ala.
He is survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Kay Goodman Herrin; his son, Chris Herrin, Atlanta, Ga.; nieces, Christy Daniel (Cliff), Orange Beach, Ala.; Kelly Manning (Scott), Atlanta, Ga.; great-nieces and nephews; (his girls), Kaylee, Courtney, Kennedy and Cassidy Daniel and Bailey, Garrett and Annelisa Manning; his beloved cousins; many dear and close friends; and his cherished cats Simon, Sister, Molly and Bobtail, who are thankful every day he brought them home and made them part of the family.
A memorial mass will be held at St. Thomas by-the-Sea Catholic Church, 26547 Perdido Beach Blvd., Orange Beach, Ala. at 11:30 on Tuesday, April 28. A reception and luncheon will immediately follow the service at the church.
