Georgia Fillingham Huckabay

Georgia Fillingham Huckabay, 72, a resident of Fairhope, passed away Sunday, Sept. 14, 2014.

Georgia was a lifelong member of Saint James Episcopal Church of Fairhope.

She was a talented musician, and music was her ministry. She found joy singing in the choir at church and playing her flute.

Georgia was a 1959 graduate of Fairhope High School. She earned two degrees in music from the University of Southern Mississippi.

Georgia worked in the Department of Music at Louisiana Tech University in Ruston, La. from 1972-1992. She retired to her hometown of Fairhope, and was an active charter member of the Baldwin Pops Band.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 21 years, Houston Huckabay.

Georgia loved spending time with her grandchildren, crocheting and socializing with her dear childhood friends, Tina Bertagnolli and Marion Frizzel.

Mrs. Huckabay was preceded in death by her parents, George and Levitia Fillingham; and husband, Houston K. Huckabay.

She is survived by her children, Annie Freeman of Austin, Texas and George H. Huckabay of Fairhope; grandchildren, Hootie, Ashton and Mary-Carmen Freeman and Will Huckabay; three stepchildren; five step-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.

Memorial services will be held from Saint James Episcopal Church in Fairhope on Friday, Sept. 19, 2014 at 10 a.m.
