Rufus Gibson, 89, died Monday, June 7, 2010 in Loxley.
He was a native of Chatom and a resident of Loxley for the past 10 years and attended the Springhill Primitive Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry Allen Gibson and Hattie Lou Gibson; three brothers, William Gibson, John Henry Gibson and Houston Gibson; and two sisters, Mamie Flynt and Lucille Carney.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Mary Louise Gibson of Loxley; son, Ronal,d E. Lucas of Mobile; two daughters, Mary Ann Vaughn of Loxley and Gloria J. Lucas of Robertsdale; 10 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; four brothers, Abraham Gibson, Martin Gibson and Donald Gibson, all of Robertsdale; and Tommy Gibson of Watson, Mo.; and three sisters, Minnie Kilpatrick of Robertsdale, Winnie Mae Tew and Alice Singleton, both of Chatom.
Funeral services and visitation were held Thursday, June 10 at Springhill Primitive Baptist Church with Elder Charles Ellis and Elder Gary Blair officiating. Burial followed at Springhill Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Michael Roley, Martin Gibson Jr., Teddy Singleton, Nick Blackmon, Johnny Lucas and Brian Adair.
